Cherry Simple Syrup

I saw some fresh cherries at the supermarket and they looked SO good I had to buy them. So then I started on a Pinterest search for Cherry recipes and came across this Cherry Simple Syrup from Good Housekeeping. And I’m so happy I tried it!

This would be perfect added to some soda water, lemonade or in a cocktail (which I am intending to do…)

CHERRY SIMPLE SYRUP

1 1/2 cups of fresh or frozen cherries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp cracked black peppercorns
1 tbsp lemon juice

In a saucepan add the cherries (pitted if fresh), sugar, water and black peppercorns and simmer until cherries have broken down and mixture has thickened.

Let cool to room temperature, then stir in lemon juice. Makes approx. 1/2 cup. Keep refrigerated.
