I can’t believe that it’s been six years since our wedding day. It really was one of the best days and nights ever! We were married in Brisbane at LightSpace. This was great because we had a number of our 100 guests travel from interstate so we had the ceremony and the reception in the same venue – which meant more time for drinking and eating!
Now for the important details, the dress was Carla Zampatti. It was the first dress I tried on, out of three in total. I loved the neckline and the slightly high/low skirt. I bought some shoes from ASOS and my Mum added white grossgrain bows to the heels.
The theme was most definitely – FUN! I created a huge ‘Crazy in love’ banner for the entry and made over 600 colourful paper tassles to be hung from the ceiling. There were two long tables, with a feast ‘family’ style meal. There was SO. MUCH. FOOD. We had cocktails from the guys at Trolly’d and canapes after the ceremony, dessert was Gelato Messina (our favourite) which was only open at the Gold Coast at the time so this was a real treat for many of our guests.
There was no cake, instead we strung up some pinatas and went to town.
Later in the evening, we brought out wood-fired pizza and tubs of Pete’s favourite bow tie pasta his Baba would make him as a child.
My bridesmaids wore all white individual dresses to suit their style so they would feel 100% comfortable, paired with a statement pink lip, just like mine. I have never worn nude lipstick in my life so I wasn’t going to start on my wedding day.
There were also no bouquets, instead, I had Stem Designs fill clear perspex clutches with fresh flowers.
We had a photo booth, a DJ and plenty of food and drinks. We danced until we were kicked out at midnight and continued at a local nightclub in the Valley until 4am.
Of favours were small cupcakes made by my sister and doubled as the place settings.
Then we continued the celebrations the next day with a Sunday brunch, complete with a coffee van!
