This party was honestly weeks in the planning. Firstly because we didn’t know if or what we were going to be able to do for it and how many people. This was Coco’s official first birthday party with friends because we were living overseas for her 1st and 2nd Birthdays. So I knew I wanted to go ALL out.
She said she wanted a Minnie Mouse party, but then I wanted to make it pretty so decided on a Minnie Spring Garden theme. Clearly we spent WAY too much time at Disney in Florida.
I found the cutest Picnic Baskets from Target (linked below) and then subsequently bought every single in the country (at least it felt like that). Mum found the beautiful liberty fabric at Spotlight and made the gorgeous fabric picnic liners. Inside the baskets were some stickers, bubble blowers, Minnie Mouse straw and small fun items to take home.
I am very lucky to have a talented sister who moonlights as a cake maker so she made the beautiful Minnie Mouse cake @toocoolforschoolcakes and she also made the flower meringue pops which were SO cute!
The beautiful floral cupcakes were made by Suzy Q Cupcakes I can honestly say not only did they look beautiful, they were the most delicious cupcakes I have ever tasted.
All of my STUNNING flowers were done by The Flower Edit. I asked for posies of beautiful spring flowers and then I used old jars I had at home as vases. The coral peonies were out of this world.
For the drinks I did some watermelon juice with water to create a cute pink Minnie Mouse juice for the kids and the adults, of course we have some Bellinis! I also make use of an old bunch of flowers that was at the end of its life and made them into ice cubes a few weeks before the party to jazz up the ‘bar’ area, which was actually Coco’s rubber bathtub!
I cut fruit flowers for the little ones as well as flowers out of carrots and cheese with some crackers. And then a Fairy Bread sandwich and a cookie covered in smarties to make a flower.
But honestly, hardly anything was touched because they were all having too much fun playing together and of course eating cake!
Here are some of the items I used for the party
